Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 • 1-4pm
Camp Bothin, Fairfax

Did you know that Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts, lost her hearing when she was a young woman? Some people with disabilities are born with a disability, while others have a disability as a result of an accident or disease. This is your chance to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes for a day!
Through the help of Community Gatepath, girls grades 3-6 will discover that each one of us is different and have limitations, but have similar needs and feelings. By participating in a variety of activities, girls will experience simulating different types of disabilities including hearing, visual, and learning disabilities. Volunteers are needed, including council representative, workshop leaders and assistants, a Level I First Aider, and Program Aides.
Who: Girls grades 3-6
Cost: $15 per person; includes the new Walk A Mile In Her Shoes patch program by GSNC; girls should wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes for the field.
